Ichigo received reiatsu from all the Captains and VCs, not just those shinigami present. Renji says Yama-jii ordered them to because Ichigo saved them once and they will now return the favor. Ginjou was the first Shinigami Agent.

Renji says Yamamoto's judgement shows that even he likes Ichigo, but Hitsugaya says it's a very unusual judgement, and that the previous Captain Commander would have never done such a thing.

This is as far as I’ve read yet, the crew got together and Luffy’s eyes are full of excitement when he saw Franky.

Brook joins up, and as usual asks Nami to show her panties and got kicked.
Chopper came from the ship to see Zoro/Sanji/Luffy, and now the whole crew are gathered.
Sanji spews fountain of noseblood upon seeing Nami and Robin

Marine ships came attacking, but Hancock appears in their way.
She asks who dares put marine ships in her path, and saves Luffy
Usopp and Sanji sees her using binoculars. Sanji got stoned just by looking at her through the binoculars lol

Madara falls down into Konan's paper.
He holds his mask and tries to use his space-time [ninjutsu], but the exploding fuda among Kona's paper prevent Madara from doing so.

Konan: "it seems the space-time ninjutsu was a failure. It seems you cannot [teleport] anything other than what is directly besides you."
(if you want to teleport yourself, you have to materialise. it also goes slower than when you teleport something other than yourself)
Madara: "I have to stop teleporting. If i won't be able to slip through the explosion, things will be dangerous indeed."
(There are exploding fuda all around me... I can't carelessly teleport)
Konan: (Madara can slip through materials for a time period of approximately five minutes.)

The paper starts covering Madara

509 Bridge to peace

Naruto 509 – The bridge to peace

Madara listens to Konan’s reasons for her betrayal (of Akatsuki). He says he didn’t expect that Naruto was worth so much.
Konan says hostilely, “Because he is the light, and holds the flower of hope for everyone.”
Madara: “The fact that you are still wearing those clothes (Akatsuki uniform) despite fighting me tells me that you still cling to Akatsuki.”
Konan: “Akatsuki was created by Yahiko, the red clouds on their uniform symbolise the rain of blood that fell during war in Amegakure, and just because you came aboard Akatsuki, it doesn’t make it yours – it’s our symbol of justice”
Konan continues: “The Rinnegan was bestowed upon Nagato of Amegakure, it is not yours, but his eyes are this country’s, and this village’s treasure”
Madara lets Konan’s paper shuriken pass through his body, “This will be the end, so I’ll tell you”
“The one who induced Yahiko to set up the Akatsuki was me. The one who gave Nagato the Rinnegan was also me. That’s why it’s only right to ask for them to be returned to me”
The two begin their battle as Konan says that if Madara were to get his hands on it, all sorts of things would happen.
Konan doesn’t let hi materialised body escape by attacking with a large number of paper attacks.
Madara notices that she has something planned and decides to take her on, trying to suck Konan up when he has a chance.
However Konan has mixed some exploding tags among the paper, intending to kill the both of them.
-flashback starts-
When Akatsuki was founded? Konan reports to Yahiko that their members have been defeated.
Yahiko and Nagato are both injured and bandaged.
There are numerous other minor members present apart from Yahiko, Nagato and Konan.
Nagato says that he will go out to recce in the afternoon, but Yahiko says “I’ll go, so rest, don’t strain yourself”
He continues, “Nagato is pivotal to Akatsuki and is the man who will change the world. So just give all your worries to Nagato”
Konan: “The same goes for you, everyone loves you and thus follows you, just like with Nagato”
A while later, Yahiko responds “He is the man who will become the bridge to peace. My role is to become a pillar of support to that bridge”
Yahiko murmurs, “This country is still crying, and I now want to save this country which I once hated for always crying, that’s how I feel deep down. I just can’t leave this country alone because it’s a crybaby just like me,” and he leaves.
Konan, Nagato and the other members see him off, Nagato says, “The one who will be the bridge to peace is him, his very purpose will form the bridge”
“We’ll believe in Yahiko, let’s go everyone!” he commands, before following after Yahiko.
The flashback ends with Konan’s monologue of determination “I will become the pillar of support to the two bridges formed by Yahiko and Nagato”
The exploded paper and cloth are scattered about. We see a little of Madara’s face as his mask has broken. He has also lost his right arm.
He says to Konan who is right before him, seemingly not with as many injuries, “I underestimated you, after all you were also once a member of Akatsuki.”
“You intended to explode the both of us, but thanks to the fact that I sucked in a little of the explosion, both of us are safe”
In response to Madara’s question if she’s exhausted her secret plans, Konan says that she has a question for Madara. “Do you know why you were betrayed by us?”
Madara: Who knows?
Konan uses secret arts as she yells “You are darkness, a flower can only wilt in a world without light!”
The lake? sea? all becomes paper, and spreads just like the Red Sea did for Moses, and she tries to drop Madara into it… next chapter!
A secret art to protect Nagato… Seal him into a sea of paper!!

Aizen gets flustered. This time Ichigo asks why he’s putting distance between them.

The 3rd eye-like thing on Aizen evolves.
The face isn’t like Aizen’s. His sword is fused with his right hand. Three holes open vertically, the top one has the hougyoku in the center.
The wings portion thickens slightly, and the top edges of the wings have these things that look like hollow masks.
“So, you won’t permit me to lose to a human?” Aizen asks the hougyoku.
The mouths on the hollow masks fire what appear to be ceros. They cause a massive explosion.
Ichigo emerges from the explosion, protecting himself with his left hand. Aizen says Ichigo has nothing else to use.
He charges Ichigo and grabs his neck. All the hollow masks open their mouths to prepare to fire ceros(?) at Ichigo.
he separation of inferior beings called shinigami and hollow is finished!”
“Who cares if it’s finished?” Ichigo glares at Aizen and repels the hand grabbing hiim.

Konoha’s crow user (probably Aoba) tries to get information from Kisame’s memory in a way similar to Inoichi.

Kisame has a flashback~~
His comrades invite him to eat with them, but Kisame refuses.
Seeing this, his comrades are like “Whatever~~~”

Kisame is on a mission to deliver a code. He comes across Ibiki.
Kisame annihilated all his comrades. It’s better if he alone has the code.
If the others get caught and talk, they would be killed.

Then we get to the Fourth Mizukage.
Kisame asks him whether he’s an enemy or a friend.
From behind him, Madara appears…

The flashback temporarily ends.

His crew tells him it has to be a reason like that, if he was willing to go back and face his trauma of losing his brother.

Luffy is on the Amazon Lily ship, being tendered by the amazons.
He apologizes to them for making them sail so long.
He asks them what they are doing (pinching him and stretching him)
They are watching over Luffy so he stays put to heal his wounds, by the order from Hancock.
Hancock is resting after being so excited over Luffy.

Meanwhile, around the world, the Strawhats are reading the papers.

The meaning of the bell is explained by Killer.
Normally, you ring 8 times at the end of the year.
Then 8 times again at the start of the year.
Ringing the bell total of 16 times is a traditon of the marines.
In other words… the bell is a symbol of ending and starting of an era.

Well, we haven’t seen the finishing pages yet, so maybe there’s surprise for us still.

Aizen tries to speak to Rangiku but is interrupted by Gin. “Excuse my acquaintance. I’ll take her over there and then come back.”

On the roof of a building, Gin asks how she came to be there. Matsumoto: “After your reiatsu disappeared I immediately used the senkaimon to get here before you.”
Gin: “Not that. Why did you come staggering here?”

Ichigo enters Zangetsu's world. It seems to be the same cluster of buildings as before, but everything is in water.

A suffocating Ichigo looking for the water surface then gets hurled at a building.

The one who hurled Ichigo is some boy wearing a hood low over his eyes and calls him 'unsightly', saying that he should've figured out how to breathe already.

While Ichigo figures this out, he asks the guy who he is.

Even though the hooded guy is his benefactor for teaching him how to breathe and while he's telling him this eloquently, he removes the Tensa Zangetsu.

A young man's face wearing the Bankai release says, "If you didn't understand since the beginning, that's simply overdoing it," while he swoops down for an attack on Ichigo.

Ichigo, while stopping his sword, asks, "Are you Zangetsu?!". "No", answers the boy, "I'm [Tensa Zangetsu]", he says, introducing himself.

Isshin, who said "This Zangetsu's going to be violent" while confirming Ichigo's progress, "My (en?)Getsu was just like that, murmurs "They don't teach these skills to us, but you'll know soon enough why".

"This time, I don't have a reason to fight, but I just wanted to ask you" Ichigo tells Zangetsu as if in rebuke, "what the final form of Tensa Zangetsu is", but once again, Zangetsu attacks him.

Ichigo says, "What the hell are you doin", but he answers, "I don't have a reason to teach you that." Ichigo replys, "I have to protect Karakura town, that's why I have no choice!"

"Do you know what it is that you really want to protect?" asks Zangetsu while he throws him into a building.

"You misunderstand, there's nothing that you want to protect that I don't want to protect" continues Ichigo.

Karakura town, an awake person is pacing to and fro (Riemann?).

The composition of the panel is that he sees Aizen, then I don't know but somehow, with one word, Aizen passes by the guy's side.

And then the guy's entire left side disappears and he crumbles over.

Aizen explains that, "Any human who can't perceive my reiatsu, won't be able to withstand the spiritual pressure I create."

And because of this, along the road that Aizen walked, there's a countless number of corpses strewn about.

Aizen sees a person before him, and mentions to Gin, "That awakened child over there, I remember from Ulquiorra's eyeball, it's Kurosaki Ichigo's nakama" and then it shows Tatsuki. To be continued.

EVEN GODS FACE TRIALS
This is an untranslated quest that a lot of people are asking about. It's a rather long quest divided into 3 parts so bear with me.

PART 1
Talk to the 4 Giant statues in the middle of Dragon City by flying up and Landing on thier shoulder. Then go closer to the ear. A popup full of squares will appear. click on the 1st answer. Now talk to the other 3. You have to talk to each statue in turn.

PART 2
Collect 2 items
- Kill Ghouls inside Hades Residence
- Enter Blue Cloths Grave and open the chest near entrance.

Once you've collected those 2 items there will be more stuff you have to collect.

PART 3
Collect 4 items
- 5 nectars
- 5 argeratum
- 3 emmenagogue
- 15 one eyed stones

One eyed stones can be collected by disassembling low level weapons, armors and accessories. To disassemble go to the appropriate NPC and choose the disassemble option. You must have the appropriate crafting skill at level 2 to disassemble items.

EVIL WOLF FIGHTER = CRAZED WOLF
Another misnaming problem. They can be found around Allied Troops Camp.

FACING ONE's FEAR
The Dragon Emissary can be found at each race's starting village. This is the village you first appeared in Perfect World.

FANG QINGZI (MINIBOSS)
He can be found walking along the East-West path just West of Orchid Temple at approximately 561 766.

They can be found just South of the Old Man's house.

Go to Hero's Grave and kill the Ancient Ghouls. They can be found in the Northern part of the map. The area that looks like a robot.

For the Hut part of the Flute Quest go to the Open Hut East of Square Village, just across the Bridge with 2 guards at 601 883.
To complete this part of the quest you have to enter the hut itself. There is a gap in the railings on the South face of the hut. Enter through there. Walking around it or jumping on top will not do.

SNAKE VALLEY
Ths is the area around the Allied Troops Camp. No idea why it's not labelled on the map.

STALKER (MINIBOSS)
A slightly smaller all brown scorpion at 569 539.

A Partially translated quest. Simply talk to each NPC that appears in the Quest log until it asks for an item that's all squares. Next part is to
harvest the Flower in Sky Cliff at 423 527 or thereabouts.

WHEEL OF SEAL
1 of 7 seals needed at level 100
You cn find this item in Hero's Grave. In the area that looks like a robot, go to the right most of the 3 rooms at its "chest", look for the chest that says PRECIOUS CASE OF SOIL at 408 508. When you harvest it the chest will disappear. If you have others that want to harvest it also just wait for it to respawn.

This is an incompletely translated quest. After talking to the NPC and selecting the 1st options all the time, you will be asked to find something. This something can be found inside Dragon City at 518 664. Click on the rock that says "Zhang San's Nameplate"

ARTISAN CORPSE = CRAFTSMAN CORPSE One of many mismatched name problems.

BAMBOO FLUTE
Follow the riverbank going East. Start at 576 895.

BACKPACK
The backpack can be found at the top of the head of one of the Big Statues in the middle of Dragon City. Location is 559 645.

BLOOD FLOWER
These are flowers growing on the ground near the shipyard located between Feather City and Bamboo Village at 337 355.

BLOODY GHOUL (MINIBOSS)
This Boss walks around w/ 2 groupies, constantly circling the ruins of Hero's Grave. He moves around so look for him at around 543 769. Kill the groupies first to make things easier for you.

BROKEN SWORD AKA Drunk's quest
The drunk man is either lying or so addled with drink that his instructions are too confusing. Instead simply jump behind the building the Drunk man is standing in front of. You'll find the Rosewood Box beside the Big Tree at 446 893.

CAMELLIA SEEDS / HAO NIAO (MINIBOSS)
Go to the top of Sky Cliff and look for 3 flying bird like monsters. This is a MiniBoss so kill Hao Niao's wingbirds first. You will need to fly to 428 537.

DEADWOOD TREANT = DEADWOOD (MINIBOSS)
Walk along the path past the bridge to 604 888.

EVERLASTING TROUGH
Go to the Fishing Village and talk to the Monk to buy the Everlasting Trough. You just need to buy 1. Location roughly at 639 831.

FIRST FLIGHT TEST for Wingkind
This is for the timed quest given by the Elder early in your carreer. Start at 330 433 then fly up. At the 3rd platform go behind house. The chest is at 324 427.

FLYING TIGER
This quest gives a lot of people trouble. To solve this quest got to the Big Rocks on the river bank South of the Bridge at 450, 670. Then WALK, don't fly around the sides of the rock on the ground. The Magic net will do the rest. The Tiger is Invisible so you can't see it.

The Second part of the quest requires you to go to Sword Lake. Swim to the middle of the lake at 488 902. There you will see a human body among a circle of rocks. (Maybe the Flying Tiger is a pilot of the American Volunteer Group from China
1940)

HAI GUI
Exit Dragon City from the South Gate and go to the middle of the Bridge then dive off in to the River. Hai Gui will be to the west at 542 607. If he's not there wait for him hear the bridge. It's shy so it won't respawn if you're there.

HELLTREE (MINIBOSS)
This Miniboss walks around with the usual 2 groupies. It can be found around 528 523. This Miniboss walks around a lot so look around for him. Be careful as all the monsters in this area are aggressive.

IRONSMITH TANG JIAN
Ironsmith at the Dragon City North at 563 682.

KING OF KUNLUN
Strange White Deer that does nothing but run away if attacked. Don't be shocked by it's level 100. Also it is immune to all elemental attacks. Use ordinary physical attacks. His danger is that it's surrounded by aggresive monsters so make sure there are no monsters beyond him when you attack as he will rin away from where you are attacking. Sometimes into other monsters. He can be found at 428 554.

KITE
The kite is at the top of a stucture at 264 545. Your second jump from the arms should be to the torches. From there you can get to the top.

LOST JADE
Treasure for the fisherman. You can find it by swimming East into the ocean to 660 798.

MANGHONG HAIR
Swi to the middle of Mirror Lake to 459 589. Click on the "Rocks" at Bottom of the lake there.

MISSION ADMINISTRATOR
He can be found inside Dragon City West at 533 644. The coordinates given by the find quest button is wrong.

MEI YAO (MINIBOSS)
Mini-boss at the West side of Sky Cliff at 411 538. As usual kill the 2 plants first before Mei Yao.

NETHER GHOSTFIRE
Floating skulls above the Big Ship at the Shipyard between Feather City and Bamboo Village.

PAO CHI (MINIBOSS)
The easiest miniboss around and the first you'll kill. He has no hanger-ons and his "guards" although aggressive will not help him if you can lure Pao Chi from the camp. His camp is at 461 724.

PET TAMING QUEST
Instead of hunting the Plateau something or other for the meat, kill the Highland Boars instead. A misnaming problem.

ROULAXIN FLOWER
This flower is on top of the Pagoda beside the Spirit Lady NPC North of Orchid Temple just outside the walls at 580 770. You can get to the top by jumping from the edge of the lower roof.

SHI LIANG
The Inventor is at the North East part of Dragn City at 570 677.

SOUL GRASS
This grass can be found to the south of Orchid Village in Orchid Valley at 590 545.

SPIDER DEN
Go the spot between 4 trees with spider webs at 477 923.

WATER SPIRIT OF CONFUSION = MUD NAGA Again a misnaming problem.

WEI XIAOBAO
The qossip Wei Xiaobao is near the Elder by the Dockyard at Dragon City East. Go to 576 642 to listen to his "rumors".

YAN SHENG (MINIBOSS)
Another solo miniboss. The monsters areound him are passive. Ignore them. Found at the Broken Bow Mine at 474 679.

YE GONG (DRAGON QUEST)
This person starts the Dragon Quest. You can find him on the bridge leading to the center of Dragon City from Dragon City West at 543 653. After you talk to him, go to the Dragon Emissary at the starting village where you first appeared in this world.

YI QINGLING
Can be found floating around at 314 435. Called the Wingking Specter. Don't talk to it, just kill it.

ZENG NING (HOLY BEAST)
For some strange reason Beastkin players are having a hard time with this quest. Simply walk up the huge stone slope where the pillar of lightning rises. At the top the slope turns right towards the person you want to talk to.

Jobs, Apple’s chief executive, took several big gambles Tuesday, betting that he could repeat his success in selling digital music by persuading Hollywood to allow Apple to rent digital movies, while at the same time returning to his original Macintosh roots with an elegant — but limited — ultralight computer called the MacBook Air.

Mr. Jobs has made his keynote presentation at the opening of the Macworld Expo trade show here a consistent marketing tour de force in recent years. And although Mr. Jobs did not return to the heights of media frenzy that he reached with the introduction of the iPhone a year ago, his presentation on Tuesday trod familiar, and popular, ground.

While introducing products and services from Apple’s best-known areas, Mr. Jobs concentrated on the movie rental service and the new notebook computer.

The terms of the service are similar to those offered by other companies. In an interview after the speech, Mr. Jobs insisted that Apple was the first distributor to persuade all of the major studios to join in its rental strategy. But the risk for Apple is that consumers may not like the limits placed on their movie viewing.

For the iTunes movie rentals, consumers will have 30 days to begin watching, then 24 hours to finish the movie before it is erased from the hard disk. Mr. Jobs said that after extended negotiations both sides felt this was an obvious strategy.

The movie studios, he said, knew it was time: “We talked to them and talked to them and finally a bit flipped. They know the rental model; we came to the conclusion it was the right model. It took months and it took a lot of discussions, but it wasn’t really that difficult once the bit flipped.”

In that interview, Mr. Jobs took pride in demonstrating the MacBook Air, a three-pound notebook computer that will sell at a base price of $1,799. Mr. Jobs said that in order to reach his goal of making the industry’s thinnest computer, Apple’s designers made a series of trade-offs that the majority of laptop buyers may not appreciate.

The computer uses a 1.8-inch disk drive, on which no more than 80 gigabytes of data can be stored. Memory is limited to a standard two gigabytes of RAM and its processor is slower than those of Apple’s other laptops. The design team jettisoned an optical disk storage device for playing DVDs. Mr. Jobs demonstrated a feature called Remote Disk that will make it possible to play the contents of a DVD via a wireless network from another Macintosh or Windows PC. Also, the MacBook Air’s battery is not removable.

Responding to a question about the growing array of media, including digital photographs, movies and music, that now swell most users’ hard drives, Mr. Jobs said, “Maybe this isn’t the computer for you.”

In the interview, Mr. Jobs chastised the recording industry for its efforts to handicap Apple and iTunes by offering digital music without digital rights management copy protection through competitors like Amazon.

“They’re trying to create a competitor to iTunes by denying us D.R.M.-free music,” he said. He noted, however, that because one major label, EMI, and independent music producers are selling D.R.M.-free music through Apple, iTunes customers now have access to what he said was about 35 percent of the market without copy protection.

“It’s been frustrating us a little,” he acknowledged. “The music industry and iTunes need to find a way to work together because we’re the best vehicle they have.”

During his presentation, Mr. Jobs also demonstrated the first major software upgrade for the iPhone. He surprised analysts by reporting that Apple sold four million iPhones during their first six months on the market, a number significantly above most market research firms’ projections.

He demonstrated a handful of features that have been added to the phone, including a navigation feature that allows the phone to find the user’s rough location on a map by using network databases that record the location of cellphone towers and Wi-Fi hot spots.

Apple shares slipped, losing $9.74, or 5.5 percent, to close at $169.04. In after-hours trading, shares fell another 3.6 percent.

DTI: No evidence of 'Wilyonaryo' cheating so far; Willie might be asked to testify

The Department of Trade and Industry committee investigating the "Wilyonaryo" incident on the August 20, 2007 episode of ABS-CBN's game show Wowowee clarified earlier reports, saying it has not concluded its probe on whether cheating actually occurred.

According to a report aired over ABS-CBN's TV Patrol World, the DTI's fact-finding committee said that it simply found "probable cause" to charge ABS-CBN for a possible violation of the Consumer Act.

The DTI committee clarified that the filing of administrative charges against the network is for possible violation of the Consumer Act and not because any cheating has been established.

It added that further investigation into the mechanics and rules of the "Wilyonaryo" segment will be done to establish once and for all whether a violation of the Consumer Act did occur.

The committe also said that if the prosecution wishes, Wowowee host Willie Revillame may be called to a hearing in order to share what he knows about the incident.

ABS-CBN has denied any attempt to rig the results of the "Wilyonaryo" game and maintains that what appeared to be cheating was merely the result of a design flaw in the props used during the incident.

The "Wilyonaryo" game has already been removed from "Wowowee".

A similar investigation on the same incident by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) found no evidence of cheating and cleared ABS-CBN of any wrongdoing.

In a related development, the DTI fact-finding committee recommended that all TV game shows first secure a permit from the agency for all their game segments.

ABS-CBN has contested this recommendation, saying no DTI permits are necessary since game show segments are not sales and promotional activities.

With an underwhelming Consumer Electronics Show receding in the tech universe's review mirror, the focus has turned to the upcoming Macworld. Steve Jobs has a lot to live up after last year's performance when he introduced the iPhone, forever altering the smartphone landscape. Jobs isn't expected to announce anything quite so groundbreaking, but there's still plenty of speculation about what he'll be unveiling on Tuesday. Here's the buzz:

Movie Rentals on iTunes
Can Apple transform how we watch movies the way it changed how we listen to music? BusinessWeek and The Wall Street Journal are reporting that Apple, which already sells first-run Disney movies through its online store, is hammering out rental agreements with them as well as with Warner Bros., Lion's Gate and Paramount. One potential sticking point has been pricing. The recording industry hates the 99-cent-per-song standard and it appears unlikely that the film industry will go along with a similar flat pricing structure—they want flexibility. Exact details of how the rental system would work are scarce, but it seems likely that the rented movie would live on your hard drive for a pre-determined amount of time (24 hours or a week) and then disappear.

Rip DVDs onto iTunes
The Financial Times is reporting that Apple is also hammering out a deal to license its FairPlay digital rights management scheme to Fox so users would be able to rip Fox DVDs onto iTunes a first for Apple, which has historically been nervous about compromising the integrity of its encryption. Taken together with Sony's new Amazon partnership, could this signal the coming end of DRM?

Ultrathin Laptops
One rumor that's been impossible to shake is that the MacBook Pro could get an upgrade—or rather, downgrade. Don't be surprised to see a thinner, lighter laptop with a 12-inch screen released some time around February (in the $1700-$1800 range). Revamped Apple TV and/or Apple Cinema Displays
The company's "digital adapter" hasn't made much inroad with consumers yet. The device, which connects computer networks with in-home entertainment systems, is designed to fling digital videos from your hard drive up onto big-screen TVs—or even just play digital music through stereo speakers. With all this talk about movie rentals, high definition, "something in the air," and now fully green, LED-backlit LCD screens, expect a potentially major audio-visual foray into the living room.

This would be a totally new product, but one that's been swirling through the rumor mill for years. Think of it as a giant iPod touch: a flat, portable, touchscreen device—running on some modified version of the Leopard operating system, and powered by Intel. Given the public's lack of demonstrated demand for such a product, however, many analysts remain skeptical. Then again, we didn't know we wanted iPods before we had them.

"One More Thing..."
The company has been typically ruthless when it comes to keeping secrets this year. Just last month it (somewhat heavy-handedly) had a popular rumor site called ThinkSecret shut down for publishing, well, leaked secrets. So chances are pretty good that Jobs has some well-concealed announcement up his sleeve for the Tuesday's Stevenote—he usually saves the sexiest stuff for last.

Power-sipping TV a hit at CES

At CNET, we take HDTV power consumption seriously, which helps explain our excitement when Philips announced its Eco TV. The 42-inch, 1080p resolution, flat-panel LCD, model 42PFL5603D (due in March, $1,399 MSRP), is packed with power-saving features.

Chief among them is the ability to dim the backlight--by up to five times peak brightness--in response to program material, much like the "local dimming" found on Samsung's LED-based LN-T4681F.

Dimming the backlight in darker scenes has the dual benefit of saving power and improving black-level performance, according to the company.

The backlight can also be dimmed via a room lighting sensor, so in dark rooms it will use less power. There's also traditional a "power-saving" mode that caps the peak light output.

All of these features can be turned on or off at the viewer's discretion, which should please videophiles since many of these features' potential effects, such as black-level fluctuation, could negatively impact home theater image quality.

With this trifecta engaged, we saw the panel's power consumption dip to an impressive 75 watts during the in-booth demo--Philips had hooked up a Watt's Up to track consumption.

That's a bit more than a standard incandescent light bulb and 30 watts less than the most miserly 42-inch LCD we've tested ourselves so far, Philips' own 42PFL7432D measured after calibration. The Eco TV's standby power is also less than 0.15 watt according to the company, also among the best we've seen.

Until we test it over a period of time we have no idea how much money this HDTV will save on your annual power bill--the dimming backlight introduces too many variables--but we don't expect it to be more than $50 over a standard 42-inch LCD, assuming average energy costs.

Philips also built in a few other non-power-related greenie features, including lead-free materials and only "trace" amounts of mercury, which enables it to comply with strict ROHS and State of Vermont standards, respectively.

And yes, even the box is made from recycled material.

The 42PFL5630D lacks the company's patented Ambilight technology, which is actually another power-saving perk since those lights draw more juice.

It also lacks the high-end features such as the 120Hz technology found on its more-expensive brethren--this is strictly a mass-market TV, and one that should be more satisfying to environmentalists than any large-screen flat-panel we've seen so far

The battle with the Millenium Earl and the Noah Family vs. the Exorcists intensifies when some of the best Exorcists begin to get killed by hoards of Akuma. Japan takes center stage in this end of 19th Century plot in order to not let the entire human race be turned into Akumas and the Exorcists have the power of "Innocence" that was given to them by God on their side.

Did you know that the name of Uzumaki Naruto comes from a city in the Tokushima Prefecture of Japan named Naruto? The city of Naruto was founded on March 15th, 1947 and has a population of 64,257 and a density of 474.40 per km². Naruto is most famous for the Naruto Whirlpools (Uzumaki, hence Uzumaki Naruto), a famous tourist attraction. Naruto also is home to the Ryozenji and Gokurakuji temples, the first two temples of the 88 temples on the Shikoku Pilgrimage that are believed to have been visited by the famous Buddhist monk Kukai, who was born in Zentsuji of the Shikoku Prefecture in 774. The pilgrimage is 745 miles long (1200 kilometers) and traditionally walked, which can take up to 60 days to do completely. Those who do complete the entire pilgrimage are known as o-henro-san and are often recognizable by their white clothing, sedge hats, and walking sticks. Also in Naruto is the Ohnaruto Bridge, a suspension bridge on the route that connects Kobe with Naruto. Completed in 1985 the bridge crosses the Naruto Strait (location of the Naruto Whirlpools) and has a span of 876 meters (2,874 feet), good for being named the 25th largest bridge in the world.
